Ministerial Screening: 3 Nominees Deemed Likely To Fail Senate Ratification

The Nigerian senate on Wednesday came to a conclusion on the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari’s ministerial nominees.
Out of the 33 nominees, 18 have been confirmed and the senate is set to confirm the rest during plenary today, October 29, 2015.
Here are the 3 below:

1. Rotimi Amaechi – PDP senators in the Red Chamber aren’t keen for Amaechi to be confirmed following his antics when he was Rivers state governor. They currently have a petition against him being fit for ministerial duties because he’s corrupt.
The senators are decided and they’ve threatened to withdraw support for senate president Saraki should he enforce his confirmation.

2. Pastor Usani Uguru – PDP Senators are also averse for him to be confirmed today. They described Uguru as a light-hearted man who cannot be entrusted with any sensitive public office like the one he was nominated for. Uguru during his screening had caused a stir when he responded with “God forbid” after being asked if he’s worked with a PDP senator.

3. Aisha Abubakar – The APC in Sokoto state are against the ministerial nominee from the state. They say she’s a nobody and shouldn’t have been nominated. There’s a petition against her questioning her qualification for the post.
