Theodora Richards, 30, also the offspring of model Patti Hansen, who once had a lucrative deal with Tommy Hilfiger and posed for Burberry, spent 30 days at the Silver Hill Hospital in New Caanan, Conn., for drug abuse issues, a source tells us.
“She checked in Oct. 5 and she was in there for drugs,” says our insider. “At the start her mood varied day to day, then she came out seeming really happy and big spirits.”
While there, Richards — also an artist who illustrated a children’s book called Gus & Me with her famous father — would spend hours each day doodling and drawing in a marble covered notebook she kept with her at all times, says our source.
“She seemed to be happy while doing it. She would pull a hoodie up over her head and doodle for hours, she’s really into drawing,” says the source. “There was no mention of her dad, she kept quiet who she was, and I don’t think anyone recognized her.”
Our source says although she didn’t talk about her family, Richards was very friendly and “outgoing” with other patients and staff and “spoke to everyone.”
In the mornings, Richards would go “off campus” to town to attend meetings at the local church. She would mingle with friends and get some fresh air, then head back to Silver Hill’s campus, we’re told.
“She had a pretty regular schedule, she would eat lunch and dinner at the same time every day and attends a few meetings a day,” says the source.
By the time she left, Richards, who came in looking “very skinny,” was back to a healthier weight, and appeared to be in good spirits.
Richards was last spotted in New York with her dad in March when the duo went to lunch for her 30th birthday, then took a stroll around downtown.
In 2001, Richards was busted for Vicodin possession after scrawling graffiti on the wall of a SoHo convent, was arrested and charged with possession of a graffiti instrument and possession of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to two days of community service and a day in a drug-treatment facility.
Richards’ agent did not return a request for comment.
