The Delta State government through its Ministry of Energy and the office of the Secretary to the State Government has taken a bold step towards boosting electricity supply by signing a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Chinese Company, Yutal Li
Nigeria Limited for the provision of 100 megawatts solar powered
electricity generating plant.
He State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa presided over the signing of the MOU
in Asaba saying the partnership was necessary because of the importance
of electricity supply to the growth of micro, small, medium scale
enterprises.
He added that the partnership will not only give a boost to
employment but, to the socio-economic development of the state and the
country at large since it will be helping to increase electricity
supplied to the national grid.
Meanwhile land required for the power plant has been sourced for
already and the project is expected to be constructed within one year
after the contractor has been mobilized to site.
