Nigerian Senate set to engage with Civil Society Groups on 2016 Budget

Saraki calls for alignment of strategies with CSOs and stakeholders; calls for a “budget owned by Nigerians.
The President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is scheduled to meet with civil society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 2pm in the National Assembly.
The aim of this meeting is to afford civil society and non-governmental organizations an opportunity to contribute their ideas, perspectives, inputs and strategies to that of the Senate, in order to pass a budget that can be owned by a majority of Nigerians.
 

In an invitation from the Office of the Senate President, the vision of this initiative is also to promote inclusiveness and implement an open and transparent National Assembly as set out in the legislative agenda of the 8th Senate.
Participating CSOs and NGOs have been asked to forward all written submissions to i.onah@senatepresident.gov.ng.
Additionally, organizations that may wish to participate physically in this exercise should indicate their organization, full name(s) and phone numbers of representatives of their organization that would be attending the meeting in the body of the emails
