Saraki calls for alignment of strategies with CSOs and stakeholders; calls for a “budget owned by Nigerians.
The President of the
Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, is scheduled to meet with civil
society organizations (CSOs) and non-governmental organizations (NGOs)
on Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at 2pm in the National Assembly.
The aim of this meeting is to afford civil society and
non-governmental organizations an opportunity to contribute their ideas,
perspectives, inputs and strategies to that of the Senate, in order to
pass a budget that can be owned by a majority of Nigerians.
In an invitation from the Office of the Senate President, the vision
of this initiative is also to promote inclusiveness and implement an
open and transparent National Assembly as set out in the legislative
agenda of the 8th Senate.
Participating CSOs and NGOs have been asked to forward all written submissions to i.onah@senatepresident.gov.ng.
Additionally, organizations that may wish to participate physically
in this exercise should indicate their organization, full name(s) and
phone numbers of representatives of their organization that would be
attending the meeting in the body of the emails
