DPR Sanctions Fuel Stations Hoarding Fuel In Kwara

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has enforced the penalty of hoarding fuel on two filling stations in Kwara State.
This comes as a follow-up to the directive of the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, on free distribution of fuel to motorists in stations hoarding fuel.
The monitoring by the DPR took the agency to Ilorin West and Asa Local Government Areas of the state, where the two stations, Alkad and Namut, were caught hoarding between 2,000 and 800 litres.

The motorists who had been waiting eagerly to buy fuel heaved a sigh of relief as they were informed of the plan to distribute free fuel to them.
Most of the people could not believe what they had witnessed as they commended the DPR for the enforcement which they said would serve as warning to others.
The DPR Operations Controller in Ilorin, Phillips Salvation, lamented the hoarding of fuel which he said is against the law of the agency.
He added that despite the free distribution of fuel at the two filling stations, they would face other fines and penalties to be imposed by the agency.
Mr Salvation warned petroleum marketers to desist from illegal acts, reiterating that the DPR would not relent on imposing necessary sanctions.
